Roma Nation-building and Places of Transnational Memories

Summary/Abstract: In the paper we search for the places of memory of the nascent Roma nation’s collective past, and examine the role of transnational places of memory in the nation-building process. We scrutinize the role of Roma civil rights movement and non-governmental organizations, as well as the institutions of international intergovernmental and supranational organizations in Roma nation-building process and the formation of politics of memory in the transnational sphere.
