Summary/Abstract: Information and communication technologies have crucial meaning for improving the standard of living for a growing number of elderly people in Europe. Introducing technology into the lives of the elderly occupies an important place among the priorities of the EU. In Poland, people over 50 years old are 42% of the citizens, but only 18% of Internet users belong to this group. In terms of the use of the network by the elderly, Poland occupies one of the last places among European Union countries. At the same time, Poles aged 50+ have significantly lower IT competencies compared to people aged 16–49. People over 50 often consider the Internet as a domain of young people and see nothing interesting for themselves. The purpose of the article was to present the results of a questionnaire survey on the knowledge and usage of computers by seniors. The survey was conducted in 2017 in the group of students of the Third Age University. The article present the skills assessment of students of the University of the Third Age in Cracow, operating at the University of Agriculture, within computer operation, methods of searching for information and communicating with the use of Internet messengers. The questions included in the questionnaire focused on basic computer skills, using the Internet, network activity through social media and making transactions via the Internet.
