Summary/Abstract: In this article is discussed the possibility of using the production franchise in the bakery and confectionery enterprises of the small and medium enterprises (SME) sector in the light of own research. The state of knowledge on the production franchise contained in scientific publications is limited to the formulation of its essence or indication of the departments industry in which it is practiced. Production franchise lies in the fact that the franchise does not only perform commercial or service activities, but himself produces certain goods according to technology provided by the franchisor. The reasons for undertaking research in the area of the possibility of using the production franchise in the bakery and confectionery enterprises of the SME sector were, among others: the industry crisis and the lack of research on the production franchise in manufacturing companies. Many small and medium enterprises are not prepared to compete in such aspects as wide and diverse assortment, marketing, sales techniques, and personnel management. The article attempts to answer the question is it possible and justified to use the production franchise in the bakery and confectionery enterprises of the SME sector in Poland.
