Summary/Abstract: The results of successful transplant surgery over nearly six decades have made organ and tissue transplantation a world-class medical practice that has brought enormous benefits to patients, making it the only treatment possible. It is clear that the use of organs and tissues for transplantation involves risks, which is why security measures have been taken regarding their donation, collection, processing, preservation, storage, transport and use At the European Union level, it was deemed necessary to create a unitary legal framework to ensure that organs and tissues intended for transplantation have a similar level of quality and safety.
