Summary/Abstract: Shopping centers, hypermarkets, supermarkets and discount stores have created a new retail segment in Poland, which undoubtedly can be called a new market, hypermarket. This form, a part of the retail trade, has been developing all the time in Poland. The outlays of foreign and domestic investors for this sector are very large, starting from specialist logistics and distribution centers, and ending with professional purchasing and sales facilities. At the turn of the last few years, the way of distribution in large retail chains and in the retail trade itself has changed once again. New innovative forms of distribution are to reduce the operating costs of large retail chains and prepare a more competitive offer addressed to the final customer.
