Summary/Abstract: The decision-making of the succession process in Mexican family MiPymes was analyzed from the planning, design and implementation perspective. The research problem focuses on low productivity, lack of competitiveness, adoption of new technologies and a business culture for growth and development when the succession has taken place. The research objective is to analyze the basis of the administration of each family Mi-Pymes by identifying the existing decision model and its influence on the succession process through a strategic plan. The methodology is qualitative and quantitative, with numerical magnitudes. According to the surveys, it is estimated that 92% of the MSMEs lack a natural model of succession, and qualitatively – the administrative and attitude factors are identified to face the succession and its possible relations with the organizational structure. Concluding that a Medium-Term Family Succession Plan is a key for the owners of MSMEs in decision-making and will generate information for the planning, design and implementation of the plan, eliminating ambiguities and confusion in the members, generating a culture of value schemes, customs and ingrained norms avoiding resistance to change.
