Summary/Abstract: Polish family business are very important stakeholders of Polish economic landscape. Taking it into consideration is crucial for every participant of polish capital market. Knowledge if family businesses are in some areas different in comparison to non-family companies is very valuable. The example of such difference is level of willingness to take a part in mergers and acquisitions processes. The objective of this article is to examine if there is any difference between public family and non-family companies from perspective of their activity in M&A process as a buy-side. Authors analyzed almost 400 public companies from Warsaw Stock Exchange and about 6500 M&A deals completed between 2004 and 2016 to investigate if there is any substantial disparity between mentioned two groups.
