Summary/Abstract: The fishing sector in Sinaloa is an important source of direct and indirect employment, provides basic species in the regional power and generates revenues that allow the satisfaction of needs of fishers and their families. However, there is overexploitation of the resource, increase of the population inhabiting the fishing and illegal exploitation of the product; the fishermen practice grouped artisanal fisheries in cooperative societies that assume the commitment to promote ecological culture in search of productive efficiency for the benefit of all cooperators. For this reason, the objective of this research is to analyze the perception of fishermen and stakeholders regarding the viability of fishing for the family support. An interview that applied to cooperatives and free fishing partners were used for gathering information. As main findings it can be said that fishing is not enough to cover their basic needs requiring supplement income with income from other activities. However, they consider fishing as a viable activity requiring attention urgently to reduce the contamination of the fishing camp
