Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses one of the most important problems of enterprises that implement projects co-financed from EU funds, i.e. monitoring and financial control. All expenditures incurred within the framework of the European funds must be certified, which consists in checking whether the financial documents are reliable and comply with the law. In the case of irregularities in spending the EU funds, the money received from grant must be returned. The paper presents how to obtain the EU grant, and then how to settle the project so that the money would not be returned and the project is successful. The authors provide a case study of monitoring and financial control during the project implementation by micro-enterprise, which received the EU grant within the Fast Track call (Operational Program Smart Growth, Activity 1.1.1.). It is one of the most popular calls for entrepreneurs who want to develop and implement innovative products or services. The money can be spent i.a. for personnel remuneration, materials and depreciation of or renting research equipment. This call is announced for 8 months a year by the National Center for Research and Development, and the applications submitted are evaluated each month. The case study was prepared on the base analysis of the company's project documentation and the interview conducted with the project team.
