Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to examine the way in which entrepreneurs perceive themselves as leaders and what sort of leadership behaviours are most influential in creating business value. The research subjects are female entrepreneurs who are innovative and creatively destroy existing market structures. By taking initiatives, and by risking their time, reputation and money in doing so, they are the embodiment of leadership. The paper addresses the interrelationships between entrepreneurship and leadership as the role of the entrepreneur is emphasized in economic development. As the identity of the leader is determined by the leader’s relationship with the environment [Marchiondo, Myers, & Kopelman 2015], perception plays the key role in understanding. Perceptions offers a way of conceptualizing entrepreneurial process and promotes socially accepted roles. Semi-structured and not standardized interviews [Kostera 2003] and desk research are applied in the field. Inductive approach enables a more in-depth examination of particular social processes, therefore, the study used principles of a grounded theory approach for collecting and examining data [Glaser & Strauss 1967/2009].
