Summary/Abstract: The article says why the first ten chapter from chronicle of John Malalas are incorporated in Archival chronograph. Functional analysis of the Slavonic text gives rise to claims that the Chronicle of John Malala is a kind of encyclopedia of ancient mythology. However, these myths are "surrounded" by the Old and New Testament events. That is, from first to tenth chapter in the chronicle of Malalas is represented the transition from paganism to Christianity. This is probably why exactly those parts of the chronicle (I to X chapter) to be included in Archival chronograph. "World Chronicle" is a text that probably in Christianized Bulgaria performed ideological functions.
