Summary/Abstract: The article comments the ruler and the era when John Malalas’ text was created, and the time when the chronicle was translated into Old Bulgarian. Based on the chronicle by John Malalas, parallels are made between the personalities of Emperor Justinian I and Tsar Simeon the Great. The article supports the idea that the translation of John Malalas’ Chronicle was made during the reign of Tsar Simeon.
