Summary/Abstract: The author approaches last year’s Venice Biennale from the perspective of performativity. Hausmann analyses the tendency of the major artworks to operate with the physical presence, the activity, and the body of the creator and/or the viewer. After a historical introduction, she focuses on Anne Imhof’s Faust as an example of contemporary participatory creations, found at the crossroads of performance art and happening.
