Summary/Abstract: Analyzing literary discourse according to socio-historical theories means considering it as an exposition of historical facts. Regarded as delineating a nation’s or a people’s history, historicity constitutes therefore the epicenter of a materialistic investigation of a literary text. This is a very prominent characteristic of African literature. It is the case of Ahmadou Kourouma, who makes of the colonial fracture the crux of his novel Monné, outrages et défis. The study of the discourse situation in this work shows that it embodies what Édouard Glissant calls “the imagination of languages”, being also a message of coexistence that renders the blending between Africanophonie and Francophonie. The colonial past is explored here in order to create the instruments of hope, in order to avoid the dangers of identity fragmentation and of persecuting historical truth.
