Summary/Abstract: Emphasizing the individualization of morals, the triumph of the liberal economy and the decline of institutions, globalization has led to a crisis of social ties. Therefore, the dislocation of the family unit is one of the major contemporary social issues, because the family is the basic cell of society. In Africa, “the continent of crises” by excellence, literature provides a relevant stage for this debate. A prominent means of raising the awareness of the African masses, the African novelistic discourse has skillfully addressed the issue. By analyzing the phenomenon of polygamy through her first novel Une femme, deux maris, the Ivorian writer Fatou Fanny-Cissé identifies poverty and ignorance as the root causes of family crisis. The aesthetic work comes therefore as a vast anthropological investigation, as perpetual education; but above all, as applied pedagogy, for it makes literary creation the place of a metamorphosis and transmutation of everyday reality. The extratextual ideological writing project thus becomes an inquiry on the conditions of “resocialization and new humanization”.
