The assessment of ego states and life positions via questionnaires

Summary/Abstract: Two from the main personal constructs in the theory of Transactional analysis are ego-states and life positions. The objective of this article is to present results from the pilot study with questionnaires, which measure the ego-states and life positions, developed by Julie Hay (Hay, 1996). The participants in this research were 187 people, from which 58 men and 126 women, mostly with higher education (85%). The results from the analysis present that the psychometric indexes from the two questionnaires aren’t fully satisfying. This brings additional content analysis of items and improving the factor structure, so they can reflect the expected the three-component model for ego-states and the four-component model for life positions.
