Selected IT Tools in Logistics

Summary/Abstract: Logistics is a discipline which involves synchronisation of a multitude of activities and efforts, and therefore it requires data processing in considerable volumes. This fact entails the need for specific IT tools to be used as a means to support and integrate all the initiatives undertaken in logistic processes. The foregoing assumption has provided grounds for an analysis of selected IT systems dedicated to logistics. For that purpose, the notions of logistics management and logistic management have been defined and characterised. In a follow-up, the IT systems and technologies applied in logistics have been reviewed, and selected computer programs supporting the areas of logistic management and logistics management have been addressed in this publication, and the respective advantages resulting from their application have been identified.
