Summary/Abstract: The emergence of Industry 4.0 imposes businesses need to prepare for the operation of the new economic reality. At the same time, it implies the development and implementation of new business models in enterprises, as these traditional ones no longer take into account the future operating conditions. Due to the early phase of the implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept, current work focuses on developing future business conditions and the requirements that will have to be met in order to compete in the marketplace. Hence, the purpose of this article is to present the research challenges of developing new business models for the Industry 4.0 concept, including such aspects as global value chain reconfiguration, resource sharing, customization, global competition, revenue streams and new risks.
