Summary/Abstract: Peter Leopold the great duke of Tuscany 1765-1790, introduced an extensive social, legal and financial reform in Tuscany. He rationalized the tax, judicial and administrative system to ease burdens of citizen, aimed to regulated the relations between the State and the Church and promulgated a new penal code. Peter Leopold also attempted to introduce a constitution in Tuscany. This article gives a comparison between the project of Peter Leopold and the constitutional project of Polish nobility in Galicia, which belonged to the Habsburg Monarchy following the partition of Poland in 1772.
