Summary/Abstract: This article is about the news as storytelling and the connections between news and myth. The main thesis is that the TV news comes to us as stories, spoken with the intention of entertaining, rather than informing, and it is a response to the human hunger and need for stories. We argue in the same time that the archetypal (ancient) myths have taken modern form of the TV news. The stories about the victims and heroes, about the floods and natural disasters are only a few examples of this large phenomenon. One can identified these stories everyday within national TV reports and international correspondence. A short analyse of the news at the Romanian TV stations show us that they have very little to do with information. They seemed to have many things to do with storytelling and myth.
