Summary/Abstract: The directive 95/46 functioning for a long time shows that the personal data protection law in EU needs to change. Elaboration of the new act took four years. The general data protection regulation act is a compromise between all member states who till now had more freedom to regulate this area (Regulation 2016/679). There is a hope that the new regulation will help to increase awareness of citizens. In the new document more emphasis is put on a guarantee of much more protection to personal data subject. Therefore it introduces for example the right to be forgotten or scope of information obligation much wider than now.
