Summary/Abstract: Rail transport is an important element of the supply chain. The aim of the study is to show the scope of changes that are taking place on the railway transport market in Poland. Both the freight transport market and conditions in the transport of people were analyzed. In 2009-2017 there was a systematic increase in the volume of intermodal rail transport. Positive changes concerned all transport parameters here. The analysis of changes on the rail market in Poland also showed in 2017 an increase in the volume of transported loads, as well as transport and operational work. The transport of people is an important sphere of activity in railway transport. In Poland, 303.6 million passengers used the services of railway carriers in 2017. In comparison with 2014, this is an increase of over 34 million travelers.
