Summary/Abstract: The height of recruits is a significant index of living standard. B. N. Mironov was the first Russian researcher who made an analysis of the height dynamics of Russian Army recruits in 1874-1913. The calculations of B. N. Mironov showed that the average height of recruits was growing and B. N. Mironov made the conclusion that it was a display of living standard’s improvement. But the B. N. Mironov’s analysis have some serious miscalculations and his conclusion seems to be not reasoned enough. This article is a discussion with some of B. N. Mironov’s affirmations.
