Summary/Abstract: The Romanian readers’ interest for the Legend of Ulenspiegel and of Lamme Goedzak by the Belgian Romantic Charles De Coster can be seen in the numerous editions of the two main Romanian translations. Since 1947 several Romanian translators have endeavoured to create an accurate version of the epic. Ioachim Botez created a referential work which is still being published unchanged after more than six decades, while Traian Fințescu is the author of a modernized version appealing to the contemporary reader. The present article is structured as an analysis of both the lexical and the morphological elements which illustrate the evolution of translation from one approach to another and from one period to another.
