Summary/Abstract: The author traces the genealogy of contemporary humanities’ interest in the affect theory, pointing to the multiplicity of trends and kinds, and thus the impossibility and pointlessness of reducing this variety to one, clearly defined theory or a turn. She also mentions most basic assumptions of this methodology, its cognitive and aesthetic as well as political stakes, and problems encountered when this discourse had entered the sphere of the humanities.
