The Maritime Specialists School of the Border Defense Forces and its Role in the Preparation of National Defense Personnel in the Years 1950–1967

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the origins and the development of the organization of the Maritime Specialists School of the Border Defense Forces in Gdańsk-Nowy Port, functioning at 35 Oliwska Street in the years 1950–1967. A description is given of the school’s role in the preparation of maritime specialists – non-commissioned officers and sailors, as well as vessel staff for other institutions. Matters discussed include the origin of the school, its organizational development, its organization and teaching process, the subjects taught, the educational facilities, the living conditions of the sailors, and the teachers working at the school.
