Summary/Abstract: In the presented article, the author introduces intothe scientific circulation an unknown manuscript on thehistory of the Bashkalia village from the District of Tighina. The source was found in the National Archives of theRepublic of Moldova. Its analysis shows that representatives of the local administration complied it on January 9,1943 at the order of the Bessarabian administration. Thevolume of the document contains 13 pages of text written by hand in ink. In many ways, the compilers of thetext used data provided by the guardians. The manuscriptcontains 4 chapters that provide information on the settlement of the village, the origin of its name, the constructionof the first church and the school. Information concerningthe development of Bashkalia during the tsar period, aswell as the state of the commune in the interwar period,are of interest. The information about the settlement of thecommune by the Bulgariansis also interesting. The authorsof the manuscript attempted to reflect the geographicalorigin of the carriers of certain local names
