Summary/Abstract: The interest in studying interethnic relationships hasappeared in Romanian interwar historiography simultaneously with the formation of a new state, Greater Romania, and the revival of revanchist tendencies in Europe after theWorld War I. The interwar historiography only indirectlystudies the interethnic relationships, that is why the authorpays attention to the ethnic minorities from the Romanianspace. Interwar researchers underlined the disadvantageoussituation, throughout history, of the Romanians from theprovinces that belonged to empires and other states – Transylvania, Bukovina, Bessarabia, Dobruja. The ethnic minorities from these provinces were quite numerous, enjoyed thesupport of the imperial administrations to the detrimentof the Romanian majority. The relationships between Romanians and minorities and between the ethnic minoritygroups themselves were formed depending on these privileges. The differences in social, economic, political positions between the ethnic groups caused dissatisfaction inthe society. The studies needed to demonstrate the fact thatthe Romanians had rights to the territories that were part ofRomania. Interwar researchers also studied the interethnicrelations between the Romanians and the groups of the ethnic majority from the Ukrainian and Balkan spaces
