Summary/Abstract: Following extensive research in the logistics domain, the authors analyzed the manner of evolution of traditional logistics and its influences upon economic activities and social institutions within the system of current industrial democracies, reaching the conclusion that, in the era of globalization, logistics influences the national and international security environment. They also analyzed the sustainable development of current society, through the determining factors of interconnected economies’ logistics, as well as its relations with nature. The conclusion reached is that sustainable development is based on integrated logistics, having as a purpose ensuring a level of social welfare that is as good as possible and, consequently, diminishing the conflicts endangering national and international security.
