Discoveries at a field by Bolíkovice: Research at the site of a shootout with the attackers from Babice school

Summary/Abstract: A murderer hides in a field. That was the title of episode 10 of the TV series Thirty Cases of Mayor Zeman. Though the story differed in many ways from the realty and served as Communist propaganda, a shootout with Security officers did actually take place in a field. Following an attack at the school in Babice on 2 July 1951, four young men hid in the rye in a field in Bolíkovice, which lies two or three kilometres from Babice. The next day they were surrounded and came under fire. Two of them were shot dead, including the operation’s organiser, Ladislav Malý.
