Summary/Abstract: This study aims at researching the biblical hermeneutical principles of the exegetical work of St. John Chrysostom, a distinguished personality of the Church, with an impressive contribution to the theology. Their investigation is a way of rediscovering the way in which he developed divine revelation based on biblical hermeneutical premises and the exegetical tradition of the Church. We discover in Saint John the current principles of interpreting a text, but what impresses him is how to apply them to the texts revealed the classic hermeneutical principles, such as respecting the author’s intention and the text’s intention. Addressing the difficulties of biblical texts is a source of reflection on how he has managed to explain theological ideas. The various interpretative processes that Saint John uses in his explanations reveal the complexity of his thought, helping us to better understand his hermeneutical strategy. The method of sounding the revealed text fascinates through its spiritual motivation of deepening in its semantics. The result of the spiritual experience of St. John Chrysostom, his hermeneutics is the refined expression of his thought. For this reason, deepening it is also a spiritual experience that enriches the interior. The interest of this research is on the understanding of the manner in which Saint John Chrysostom read and understood to convey the deep meaning of the biblical texts that he explained, given that this holy father continues to inspire and form new generations of Christians.
