Summary/Abstract: Notions lie in the foundation of scientific knowledge systems and their development is very important aim in education. This paper presents our experience to teach mathematical concepts at university level using the appropriate software. Solving problems we use the calculation, visualization and investigation possibilities of Mathematica to demonstrate and compare the properties of similar notions and to vary the parameters of the object under consideration. In this way the mathematical software assists students to understand the mathematical concepts more deeply.
