Summary/Abstract: The text discusses the relationship between siblings in selected folk tales. The author is interested in the ties between her sister and brother / brothers exemplified with the heroes of the fairy tale. The sample material is selected folk tales from the collection of Brothers Grimm in the translation of Marceli Tarnowski. The author assumes there appears a special bond between the brother and sister, the protagonists of the fairy tale. The author refers to this bond as a “secret system”. She invokes psychoanalytical contexts (Bruno Bettelheim, Clarisa Pincola Estés, Pierre Péju, Jurg Willi, Salvatore Capodeci) and tries to show that the behaviour of the siblings towards each other is caused by a “secret system” or something like a “collusion”. Of particular importance here is the position of the sister who rescues her brother or brothers from oppression and the phenomenon of cooperation of the characters in a dangerous situation.
