Summary/Abstract: Regional formations are an important strategy of globalization. Regional development policy emerged from the need to correct regional disparities in terms of level of development. Worldwide there are few regional formations aiming at developing social policies. Of these, the European Union is the most advanced form of regional integration, with noticeable results in the area of social policy. Regional social policies are public strategies (actions, legislation, institutions, strategies, programs, projects) developed at regional level, oriented towards social welfare, being used to generate economic growth, to correct regional disparities in terms of level of development and meet explicit social objectives and needs.
