Regional economy: potential of the opole province in the light of the “złota setka” ranking

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to regional economy and shows the development potential of companies from the Opole Province. The research dimension of the article relies on the ranking of best companies in the region, the so-called “Złota Setka”. The article also presents methodological assumptions that accompany the formation of rankings and the results of five editions, along with a brief discussion. “Złota Setka” is not only a ranking, but also an opportunity for a thorough analysis of the Opole economy; thus, the aim of the study was the desire to present a picture of the Opole Province through the prism of the ranking results and conclusions drawn from such analyses. The study uses financial data of companies that are covered by the reporting obligation in the National Court Register. The ranking presented in 2017 encompasses the financial data from the period 2015 and 2016.
