Summary/Abstract: This study aims to present the state of research concerning the VIII-X centuries in south-western Muntenia, with particular regard to the current territory of Teleorman County. Published findings are taken into account as well as the unpublished results of field research carried out in the last decade. Furthermore, the existing materials from the Teleorman County Museum storage are reassessed. The most important sites investigated in this area are the settlements from Alexandria ‘Podul Nou’ and Dulceanca (IV, III, II and I) and the necropolis of Păuleasca. The housing complexes date to the turn of the VII and VIII centuries and also into the VIII century making the situation encountered in Teleorman County interesting and one that is not often documented in the area between the Carpathian Mountains and the Danube.
