Summary/Abstract: The description of the concept of self may be designated as one of contemporary philosophy’s most vital problems. In fact, all 20th-century philosophy may be defined as a definitive farewell towards the traditional concept of the soul and inwardness. In this essay I reflect upon self and soul-external world relations. THE Figures of Plato's Alcibiades and Euripides' Hecuba are used BY me to depict two dissimilar cases in which THE subject is confronted with political conditions that cause disintegration.
