Where is Slovenia? Spatial Clusters of Informatization in Slovenia

Summary/Abstract: In studies of the use of ICT is often for-gotten that this is not just a phenomenon of time, but of space as well. Thus the research is primarily concerned with comparisons of deve-lopment at various time periods, and only excep-tionally do we find an analysis of the spatial distribution of use of services and technologies. Our paper begin with this deficit and using the example of Internet use will analyse where the information society is spatially dense in Slovenia and where the „bare patches“ are. The hypothesis about the information society as a lifestyle is con-firmed by our analyses. It is clearly shown that, in addition to the peripheral village environments, the old industrial regional centres are the envi-ronments where the „info-poor“ are located.
