Summary/Abstract: The present article analyses the Qur’an’s dictates as well as the aspects of the Muslim law (Sharia) concerning a family. According to the Islamic teachings, the Sharia should answer all the questions and doubts of a believing Muslim relating to their growth, also the endeavours to become perfect, in accordance with Allah’s will. Due to the extraordinary significance a family in Islam has – it was indispensable to introduce appropriate juridical regulations concerning divorces, the death of a husband and the distribution of property.The article’s first part describes the possibilities to conduct a divorce, the procedure and types as well as the repeated marriage of the divorced spouses and the custody of a child after the divorce. The article’s second part was devoted to the question of Muslim widows and their status in the society. The whole texts is closed with an analysis of the distribution and inheritance of property in a Muslim family.
