Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to first recognize the theme of the journey in female essayistic work by analyzing selected texts. The author focuses on contemporary non-fictional women’s travel relations and treats them as an individual way of implementing a travel narrations pattern. In the case of texts selected by Joanna Bator for analysis in this article, their affiliation to essay writing may raise doubts: the term “essay reportages” or “essay articles” fits better, which is in line with the theses on expansivity an essay and its penetration into other species. These works are also located on the borderline of literature and anthropology: the journey is an opportunity to observe on moral, cultural or religious topics.
