Summary/Abstract: Very few periods in the history of mankind have been almost as revolutionary to the science of communication and knowledge as this is. While the Internet has broken up the communication barriers as a major transformation force, which has created a new environment that marks the transition from an industrial society to a knowledge-based digital society, new media technology has radically and globally transformed journalism and, in this context, Kosovo is no exception. The vertical and one-way communication model - we talk, you listen, is being replaced by a horizontal and multi-directional model in which people are producers as much as content consumers as well as broadcasters as much as recipients. Researches on the impact of this technology on journalistic ethics are worryingly scarce. Our study, however, examines the ethical challenges faced by Kosovo journalism practitioners in their work. The results show an impact of new technologies in journalism and they suggest that they can be helpful as much as an obstacle to ethical journalism. Herewith it has been also argued that the application of ethical journalism is hindered by the interaction of complex system of structural, institutional and socio-economic factors, both internal and external, part of the environment in which journalism is practiced.
