Summary/Abstract: This article is an analysis of the provisions of the law regulating pastoral care in medical facilities in the Polish People’s Republic focusing on selected problems concerning sources of the law. The author characterizes individual legal acts from the following points of view: their legal force, the procedures behind their adoption, and relation with other legal regulations. The analyses focus on the issues of law-making in the Polish People’s Republic as well as on the normative character of specific law-making forms in the legal order of the PPR. The findings refer to the status of both an individual and religious communities. The author pays particular attention to the low level of legal guarantees of respective legal acts and the lack of coherence between particular solutions regulating pastoral care in medical facilities. The article contains a presentation of the current sources of the right to pastoral care together with an outline of current legislative problems.
