Summary/Abstract: The article presents organizational issues and technical solutions concerning radio communication systems used in the rescue activities of emergency services such as fire brigade or mountain rescue service. At the beginning of the article, the author explains basic concepts related to the radio technology and describes the legal fundaments for the functioning of critical communication systems. Examples of specific technologies helpful in providing reliable critical communication are presented, hilighting here difficult territory and challenging conditions, such as caves and underground facilities. The author presents current trends in technological development, including migrations of analogue radiocommunication solutions into digital ones.
