Summary/Abstract: In January 1947, after the elections rigged by the communist apparatus, a large part of the conspirators in the independence underground operating in Silesian voivodeship, having got tired of fighting against the regime and of living in concealment under false surnames, no longer cherished any belief in the change of the situation in Poland. In March 1947, when the amnesty was put into force, many partisans decided to trust the communist authorities, with no guarantee of integrity, and revealed themselves – among others – at the Poviat Office of Public Security in Opole. After the arms had been laid down, these persons became the main victims of the operational and intelligence activities o0f the communist secret services. This article presents the activities of the amnesty committees in 1947 in Silesian voivodeship, in Opole Silesia, and particularly the one functioning at the POoPS in Opole. It yields discussion over the circumstances, the course and the results of the amnesty of 1947 in this area. It also portrays some persons who experienced the fight against the two occupiers, who derived from various conspirational centres, and who lived in concealment in Opole Silesia after 1945.
