Rural Renovation and Protection of Cultural Heritage – Actions Taken by the Rural Population of Dolnośląskie Province

Summary/Abstract: The rural renovation programme in Poland was first launched in Opolskie province and after some time the inhabitants of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Śląskie provinces began to implement it, too. The aim of the paper is to evaluate the use of EU funds allocated within the framework of the Sector Operational Programme "Restructuring and modernisation of the food sector and development of rural areas" for the action "Rural renovation and protection and preservation of cultural heritage" carried out in Lower Silesia in 2004-2006. The paper also presents examples of other initiatives connected with rural renovation that were launched by the population of Lower Silesia.
