Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article was to establish some biographical facts about Joseph Zmijewski, the author of the manuscript Method of curing with the means not used before […], so far known only by his first name and surname, On the basis of the author’s comments, the interpretive sources, as well as the secondary sources it has been possible to establish that he lived in the 19th century (or perhaps in the first decade of the 20th century), came from a Mazovian noble family. Undoubtedly he was well educated and knew the recondite material of medical art. He took part in the fights for the independence of our country.
