Summary/Abstract: The collaboration between university scholars and the teachers in the high schools is very often but in Austria it did not happened for a long time. In 1971 assistant professors from the Institute of Economic and Social History at Vienna University founded together with teachers from the high schools the journal “Contributions to the historical social knowledge”. By that time it was an unique experiment. This cooperation has been functioning for decades. It contributed a lot for the development of the history research and science as well as for teaching history. Only by experiments and exchange with society science could remain alive and relevant.
