Summary/Abstract: The conjecture I intend to present in this article is related to the situation of a concept, which, throughout its intellectual evolution, developed in the modern age, has encompassed many avatars. From a school of thought to the next, from an epistemic trend to another, from a hermeneutic tradition to the next, the concept of ideology has undergone numerous semantic infusions which, besides the fact that they can be contextualized spatially and temporally, are able to provide explanations regarding the causes whose main effect was the role which made ideology famous, mainly during the last century and even nowadays. Aiming not to provide an exhaustive review, the idea I support is that, in the area which is epistemically delimited by the political theory specific to our time and from a conceptual standpoint, ideology still holds a marginal role.
