Summary/Abstract: Maxime Du Camp was well-known in the French literary history as Gustave Flaubert’s close friend and travel companion, together with whom he undertook a very important journey to the Middle East, which he described in his travel accounts. This article aims to illustrate the way in which Du Camp portrayed his traveling companions in his travel notes, diaries, and letters: Flaubert, their dragomen, and servants, as well as the way Du Camp himself was depicted in Flaubert’s Correspondance.
