Summary/Abstract: Maxime Du Camp is known in the 19th century French literature as a traveller-writer, author of many travalogues, photographer and of course, Gustave Flaubert’s close friend. This article aims to illustrate the writer’s exploring mind, his keen interest in the vast area of natural sciences, which gets him closer to the traveller-writers of the 18th and 19th centuries; his attention directs not only towards history and archeology, but also towards physics, heliography, geography, agriculture, zoology, etc.
